A Look Back at Last Term’s Festivals
Festivals are a big part of who we are at NWST. They mark moments, they bring people together and they give children something to look forward to, something to remember. More than just events on a calendar, festivals teach children about community, about giving, about joy and about the beauty of coming together to celebrate life in its different seasons.
Last term we had two beautiful ones.
On 24th March, our primary students gathered for the Agape Festival. Agape, in its truest sense, is about love and it showed in every corner of that morning. Students had written heartfelt cards to one another, real messages, the kind that make you stop and smile. They brought food from home to share and after stories and songs sung together with their teachers, they exchanged their cards and their food in what can only be described as a genuinely warm and beautiful ceremony. It was simple. It was meaningful. It was exactly what a festival should be.
Then on 27th April it was the Kindergarten children’s turn and they had a completely different kind of magic waiting for them. Their Egg Hunt Festival sent them running around the compound searching for hidden treasures and if you know anything about young children, you know that kind of activity is pure gold. The excitement, the discoveries, the absolute joy on their faces said everything. They loved every single second of it.
Two festivals, two different moods, one community. That is the Waldorf way and we would not have it any other way.
