We are delighted to share with you the achievements and experiences of our basketball teams at the recent tournament held at GreenstedInternational School on February,10th 2024. Our boys team showed exceptional skills and teamwork,securing a commendable fourth place out ten participating teams. The girls team matchedthis achievement with a fourth-place finish after a nail biting playoff stage among eight teams.
The competition was intense,with only onebasketball court available,leading to a modified game format of 7-minutes halves instead of the usual 10-minute quarters. This change ensuredthat all games be completed within the day but also resulted in very close matches,often decided by a mere one or two points.The spirit of camaraderie was palpable as our students interacted and played with peers from various International schools.
The feedback from ouryoung athletes has been overwhelmingly positive,highlighting the joy and excitement of engaging in such a diverse and dynamic environment. On our return journey we made a delightful stop at Galitos Flyover,where the students enjoyed some well-deserved snacks and fast food,a perfectway to wind down after a day full of energy and enthusiasm.In recognition of their active participation and performance each student received a certificate.
We are incredibly proud of their accomplishmentsin our school’s first ever tournament appearance and are already looking forward to future success, including the upcoming event on June 8th, atOshwal Academy and Shanzu TTC Mombasa.This tournament has not only boosted our morale for the second half of the term, but has also inspired the recruitment of younger players fromGrade 6 upwards, strengthening the foundation of our school’s basketball program.
