Broad Criteria for Admission

Kindergarten

The Kindergarten section has three set of classes as below;

Transition Class

Within their last year of the Kindergarten class, students become part of the transition class.. The Reception Group are given more challenging and directed activities with a focus on the development of all the pre-learning skills required to enter Primary School with additional support from the teacher. Students join the Reception Group when they are in their last school year prior to moving onto Primary School at the age of 6 years.

Class One

Admission from Kindergarten to Primary School follows a detailed assessment of the child. Any child turning six years of age on or prior to the 30th of November of the given year will be automatically assessed for Class One readiness during Term II of the current school year. Children are not only assessed on their academic performance, but their social and emotional development as well – informing a holistic assessment of the child’s readiness for Class One.

Upon successful assessment, the child will then be admitted to Class One in September of that given year. Any child turning six years of age after the 30th of November of a given year will not be assessed for Class One readiness but will remain in Kindergarten class for one more year.

Children coming into the Waldorf Primary School from a different Kindergarten school will go through the same assessment process.
