The Nairobi Waldorf School Trust is a private, international school. It is governed by three groups – the Board of Trustees, the Pedagogical Team, and the Management Team. Like other Waldorf schools, our structure emphasizes shared leadership, active parent involvement, and teacher-led pedagogy, creating a strong sense of ownership and partnership within our community. The Board of Trustees oversees the school’s financial and legal matters. It is a parent-elected body composed of volunteer parents with relevant business, legal, non-profit, or Waldorf education experience. The Board holds legal and financial accountability for the school, ensuring its long-term stability and alignment with Waldorf principles. Its key responsibilities include:

Board members are elected annually by the school community during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and meet monthly throughout the school year to fulfill their responsibilities.

To ensure effective governance, the Board works through specialized committees, including:

  2. Communications and Marketing Committee
  3. Fundraising Committee
  4. Human Resources and Legal Committee
