Why Waldorf?

Why Waldorf?

At the Nairobi Waldorf School Trust we take care of the learning journey right through from Kindergarten to High School, with Classes 11 and 12 being dedicated to International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.

Our wholistic approach to education encourages students to “relate, create and motivate” – building healthy relationships with those around them, enjoying new perspectives, and finding the inspiration to seek out their unique purpose in the world and pursue it with courage.

Teachers are committed to awaken an inner enthusiasm for learning within every student, thereby nurturing the capacity for joyful life-long learning. This does away with the need for the pressures of competitive testing and academic placement, allowing motivation to arise from within.

The health and well being of the school is created through a strong and engaged community that connects students, parents, teachers, and support staff. By working together, we seek to provide:

  • a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • the development of academic, artistic, and social capacities in each student.
  • a carefully crafted curriculum that meets the unique developmental stages of the growing student.

We invite you to explore our campuses, one in Lavington, and the other in Karen. Come and enjoy getting to know the Nairobi Waldorf School, find out more about the Kindergarten, Primary, and High School years, come and meet our people!

Vision

“Nurturing Wholistic Beings”

Mission

“To be the leading Inspirational School in Kenya by nurturing, through Waldorf Education, balanced, free individuals who are capable of critical, creative and flexible thinking.”

The world of handwork – crafts, woodwork has always intrigued me backed by a strong conviction that the work of one's hands brings satisfaction. When I learnt that the Waldorf curriculum offers hand work e.g crocheting, sewing, knitting - I knew I had found the perfect curriculum for my 3yos (12 as May 2025) As a mother to a preteen boy, I am delighted to see him use his free time by crocheting, knitting, crafting ,etc
