Class Six

The sixth-grade curriculum is both exciting and complex. Students might come home discussing the Pythagorean theorem, Roman aqueducts, or calculating discounts. New subjects include geology, physics, business math, astronomy, form drawing, and a yearlong focus on geometry fundamentals. In woodwork, they carve a spoon or bowl, and in handwork, they sew three-dimensional animals based on their own drawings.

Class Seven

The Waldorf curriculum in seventh grade deepens students’ engagement with more advanced concepts. They explore subjects like algebra, geometry, chemistry, and physics, with a focus on mechanics and electricity. History lessons cover the Renaissance and the Age of Exploration, encouraging critical thinking and creativity. In art, students work on perspective drawing and watercolor painting, while hand work includes sewing and embroidery. The curriculum emphasizes independent thinking and project-based learning to nurture their growing sense of individuality.

Class Eight

In eighth grade, students transition into more complex academic challenges, preparing for high school. They delve into topics such as algebra, world geography, meteorology, and human anatomy. The history curriculum spans the American, French, and Industrial Revolutions, fostering a deeper understanding of social change. Artistic work includes carving, black-and-white drawing, and continued development in music and drama. This final year of the lower school emphasizes leadership, self-discipline, and the culmination of the skills and knowledge they’ve acquired.
