Inclusivity at Nairobi Waldorf School Trust: Embracing Diversity, Fostering Growth

At Nairobi Waldorf School, inclusivity is at the heart of our philosophy. We are committed to creating a vibrant and supportive community where every child, regardless of their background or abilities, has equal access to a rich, engaging curriculum.

Our diverse community celebrates children from multicultural backgrounds, those with varied learning differences, and neurodiverse learners. We believe that every child brings unique strengths and perspectives that enrich the learning experience for all.

For our neurodiverse students, we have established a comprehensive Learning Support Policy (Insert link to the policy )This policy ensures that admission, support procedures, and placement options are tailored to meet each child’s unique needs. Our approach focuses on providing individualised support, fostering their growth, and enabling them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

By integrating diversity and inclusion into our practices, Nairobi Waldorf School strives to create a nurturing environment where every child feels valued and empowered to reach their fullest potential.

Inclusive and Holistic Support for Diverse Learners

At Nairobi Waldorf School Trust, we embrace an inclusive approach to education, recognizing that each child has unique learning needs and strengths, and appreciating the emotional intelligence that is developed by all students in our school. Our special education support program ensures that all students can thrive in an environment that nurtures both their academic and personal growth.

We accommodate students with a range of learning needs, tailoring our approach to ensure meaningful engagement and progress. Our three-tiered support system offers personalized attention based on the specific level of support required:

Tier 1: Occasional Support with Class Teachers

Students with mild learning needs are primarily supported by their class teachers. Through individualized attention and adjustments to teaching strategies, class teachers help these students engage fully with the curriculum and achieve set learning goals.

Tier 2: Collaborative Accommodations

For students requiring moderate support, teachers implement more structured accommodations to assist in meeting developmental milestones. These adaptations may include differentiated instruction, additional time, or alternative methods of assessment to ensure meaningful progress.

Tier 3: Comprehensive Support with a Learning Support Teacher

Students with higher support needs benefit from the collaborative efforts of a dedicated Learning Support Teacher working alongside class teachers. This team-based approach helps create an individualized plan, integrating specialized strategies and tailored interventions to address specific challenges while promoting growth in all areas of development.

Balancing Class Needs for Effective Support

To maintain the quality and integrity of our inclusive environment, we limit enrollment to 10% of the total students in a class for those requiring additional learning support. This ensures that every child receives the attention and resources they need to thrive.

Our commitment to holistic, individualized education aligns with the core values of Waldorf education. By fostering empathy, creativity, and resilience, we prepare all students to grow into confident, capable individuals who contribute meaningfully to the world.
